Tasked with creating a media center with enough storage to hold miscellaneous gaming systems but doesn’t feel too closed off, this custom piece of millwork perfectly merges the needs of the client with a modern twist. Constructed with 3/4” builder’s grade plywood, the main structure of this media center consists of simple rectangular forms and horizontal shelving. The vertical dowels are inset into each shelf - utilizing the technology of CNC milling - do not act as a structural member, instead create a surface texture drawing the eye around the curved edges. The larger, 2” dowels act as both door hardware and hinge for the dowelled doors.
